So I paid in advance for rent the pony. And she's only been able to ride twice so far!! She gets her hopes up that she can either ride or groom today, to be let down! Iv just been told we can't go over tonight because its too wet, fair enough. But surely we could go and just groom and spend time with him?

Think I'm going to look somewhere else after the months up, feel broken for my baby girl :(

I know! I'd happily let her ride In the rain, she did last week at her lesson, but the owner doesn't want us to, and the fact pony hates rain and heavy wind.

A rethink may be a good idea, or else ask if you can have the option of just going to groom. I am just going out to my two soaking wet ponies, it is really only possible to pick out feet and possibly do manes and tails when they are so wet.

I'd see if you can't get a nice little part - loan pony set days to suit both of you. Days you want to ride you can other days you can just groom, feed muck out etc. all the jobs are good experience for your daughter and make the riding part all the more worthwhile.

IIRC your daughter is only 5? If so, i think 2 lessons a week is more than enough, i wouldnt be taking on the hassle of part loaning too. Just me. Sorry if I've got you mixed up with someone else.

Maybe a better option might be to ask the riding school if they could come up with a similar arrangement?

Often the smaller ponies are not needed in the evenings - maybe they have a semi retired pony which you could use?

Why don't you try the Pony Club website and put a wanted ad. Lots of people (like me!) have outgrown ponies and they would love someone to come and exercise the fat little toe-rags.

And just a thought but perhaps they thought you wouldn't want to come in the rain? I sometimes ring the child who rides one of mine to say don't worry in horrid weather as I know the mum appreciates not having to come if the child can't ride because of rain/snow/wind (pony is too spooky).

Maybe they didn't think your daughter would want to ride so they were doing you a favour? If you say she is looking forward to it and you are happy to do jobs instead, then they might realise she is really keen.

Has you daughter been riding long op? When my daughter was 4 she would ride twice a week and at the weekends fuss about the riding school ponies with her pink grooming kit while they erred having a break, that sort of option may be worth considering.

Yeah she's rode for about 3months on and off, that's what she wants to do, she even desperate to poo pick! She has her pink grooming kit too, and her pink lead rope lol,

Going to ring stables tomorrow. I feel heartbroken for her, she adores sparky :(

One of my friends on Facebook emailed me to say she's had problems with this owner before :(
