Does anyone have any feedback about this event - I did run there but it was approx 1979, so am assuming the course has changed a little, and can't actually remember anything much about the late 70's/early 80's anyway....

Am considering having a bash at the VETERAN class - how horrific but what a laugh, so need to know if the XC is horrifically large.
 
I petrified myself around the Intermediate there in the late 1980's, so not a lot of use either! Weather was like this though, and it still ran... !! Aquaplaning in the dressage, lovely!

Course at upton is not particularly scary but is very hilly.
Almost every fence is on a rise or drop but a lovely course to ride.

Well if you've been eligible for 12 years then you were probably competing against me as I was based in NOrthamptonshire in my youth.
There were so many events which have vanished now - it's a great shame. If you evented back then do you remember Shelswell Park, that was also around Banbury way, I also remember (now gone) Wellesbourne, Great Missenden and Kilsby....

Obviously a late developer.
 
From when I did Upton in the 80's and 90's its changed loads its not even on the same part of the farm as it was when I did it I've been the last 2 years as a owner not rider and its still hilly but its not as bad as it was in the huge Nov/Int days with loads of time faults and you would get placed if you get less than 10 time pen in any class.
 
We were at Upton last year all be it, sister only did the dressage, but we still had a good walk round the course. Its a lovely course not built massive but is hilly to make up for it. I think if I remember correctly it rode well.
 
Did upton lasty year, and am due to go again this year, course rode really well, and as i remember, the worst thing was steps down off teh side of a massive hill, so as you come to them it looks like your about to jump off the edge of a cliff!! but generally nothing too bad!

Talking of ye-olde-northants events, did you ever do everdon?
