For us, today was an extremely happy one
We arrived to find Aaron already warming Boo up for the dressage, he looked cool, calm and obedient. He did a much better test than at Winkleigh but still needs a lot of work on those transitions (stuffs his head in the air when being asked for canter right
) overall, he had a lovely rhythm and generally got very good marks.
The showjumping came as a bit of a shock I think, Aaron had only done the warm up fences a couple of times and I don't think Boo was truly awake!! He approached the first fence, which was down hill and blue with scary fillers
, on his approach he broke into trot, then as he got back into canter the fence was upon him and he just said, "Oh, I can't possibly" and promptly refused!!
well that woke up Aaron, who then woke up Boo and he proceeded to do a lovely round until the last 2 fences where he got long and flattened into the planks and had them down and just caught the front rail of the last with his hind feet. Never mind, it's all a learning curve and he still looked superb and is really beginning to understand his job
The xc was just fab, I didn't get to walk the course but I understand it was very straightforward. So it was probably a great run for Boo, who went clear. Watching him go round the course in a super rhythm with his little ears pricked and looking to love it, gave me goose bumps
Aaron crossed the finish line and simply said "Awesome"!
Again, we are over the moon with him, he already makes it look easy and Aaron feels he has so much talent, that we are now very very reluctant to sell him.
All the girls at the Wiegersma's love him to bits as he is such a sweet boy, he gets lots of cuddles from them
So the thing now is, we want to try and find someone to buy a half share in him, so we can keep him. If anyone is interested, please PM me. We are not looking for a vast amount and we do want him to stay at home with us, i'd like to start competing him when he has got a few more under his belt.
Anyway, a really great day and a big thank you to Aaron and Shelley, top groom for the day.
