I am desperately in need of a farrier after my usual one failed to show up and since then has not answered his phone. My horses feet are starting to grow over her shoes at the back and I really need a farrier asap. I would really appreciate it if anyone could recommend on in the Moray area (Scotland). I am from Elgin.

take the shoes off. honestly, it's the best and safest thing to do. especially if she's grown extra foot, she'll be okay barefoot for a little while, and at least then there's no danger of her pulling a shoe half-off and treading on a nail.

Yeah tried all the farriers listed in the area and they all say they are full! V annoyed at my farrier for leaving me in this position.

Hey,

We use Robyn Pape, my horses shoes always come off but this time have stayed on for 4 weeks on the trot woohoo!!
My boyfriend is trying to get me to move over to Elgin because he's a keen surfer and it's apparently very good. Hows the hacking? You never know, I might see you over there soon. ps. was your previous farrier Gaston haha

Probably the same farrier I use!

There was one advisertising in the Northern Scot the other week. You could try him or PM Moondrop as she has been having trouble with farriers but I think she has now found one.

Depends were you live Fred. I have really good hacking, no road work, lots of forrest tracks, fields and I am a 20 minute hack from the beach.

Its a private yard but my friend has a livery yard across the fields. They own the only hill in the area and have some xc jumps so its great for getting your horse fit.

Im sorry you have been let down, I am positive there is a reason behind the farrier in question letting you down.
But any way the point is you need a farrier yesterday!! I don't think Robin will come out your way, nor would Keith Headly. Andy Simpson is your nearest. There is one over near inverness (female) who is used by someone I know, do you have transport? if you are willing to tow your horse over I can get her number for you tomorrow. There are a couple in the area who I would not let near my horses feet, don't want to name them but I question the qualifications they hold!

Can u travel? Use Alex Sharman as he was the only one who would take anyone on and he is at Whitecarins near Balmedie, I am not sure how far he would travel, but you could give him a call and find out where he is going to be. He is really nice and I know he isnt arsy like some

I can fully sympathise with you as it at onepoint took me 7 months to get a farrier and I had to move my horse to a yard just to get one

. It is such a shame when things come to this, but please, get the shoes off ASAP, it can be done with simple tools.

Still nothing, no-one is answering their phones =( Think I might just have to take them off for now. Typical, as was just getting my youngster going.
Fred - we have pretty good hacking around abou Elgin. Good hacks to the beach and where I live you can hack up over the hills and far away! Great fun and only about 100m of road work.
