Hi all. Does anybody have a number for a farrier working/willing to work in the Caerphilly area? My usual farrier has let me down badly - twice! Bit of background:
Last time our horses were shod was Valentine's Day, one horse lost a shoe a day later, mine lost one a week later, never happened before but they came up and replaced them.
Luckily, I've been off sick since, one horse has only just gone on loan so not been ridden much and another only has a trim so I've not arranged for them to be shod earlier due to this. Arranged for the farrier to come on the 22nd, he rings me at 8:45 to say he'd forgotten his apprentices were in college so couldn't make it. I thought this was a bit od but re-arranged for last Tuesday. He rings me at 8:55 when I'm nearly in work to say he's had a blow to the mouth and can't make it. I said well, nothing I can do. He said he's ring me later, never did, I rang him and got the answerphone. Later, someone else on the yard says her friend rang him to replace a shoe that afternoon and he did it, so obviously he's either lying about his injury or it wasn't that bad (I don't think he was iinjured). He was supposed to do 3 full sets, 1 trim and check another to see if anything needed doing, so a fair amount of work. He said to another livery a few weeks ago, the first time he cancelled, that he was doing racehorses instead as they gave him more money - well, why not tell me that in the first place?! I could have got someone else to begin with!
Whew, that turned in to a rant. So, if anyone can help, please do. I have a ODE on Saturday and have already paid so am desperate. I've tried Nigel ...(not Rooney) and am trying Steve Hughes, won't mention who let me down here but will let you know by PM if he's suggested.
Thanks in advance and for getting this far.
