Hope I can post this here...

Just been told of stray and the 7 days are nearly up and will be pts if noone collects.

4 year old male Rottie very friendly and knows commands.

If you can help or know someone that can please pm me asap x

Thank you

Thank you yes have passed on a rottie rescue number but im just covering all basis.

It also makes people aware of what the council do.

Fingers crossed someone can help before he is pts xx

I don't blame the council at all TBH, they're just doing their job, it's the people that leave them there, that abandon their dogs, chuck them out to fend for themselves on the streets, people who churn out pups for cash but wouldn't dream of taking them back/finding emergency foster when things go wrong, who are to blame, most dog wardens I know love dogs and try to get the rehomable ones out to rescue when there is room - but right now, there is very little room :(

As CC suggestes this is happening every day in every pound in the country sadly, there will be hundreds of dogs booked for PTS tomorrow.
The best anyone can do is try and get an experienced person to assess the dog in question, walk it, test it's reaction towards other dogs and it's reaction to basic commands, or even to take it away from the pound for the day and cover alot of scenarios with the dog (the pound here does this) as I have assessed a fair few dogs on request of other rescues by taking them away for the day and walking mixing them with my dogs, testing their lead manners, giving them commands e.t.c, and ended up with a fair few myself
This way you can go onto rescue/rehoming sites and give a better description of the dog to create more interest, a pic will also help immensley.
It's time consuming, but it helps.
