Recently me and my friend have been jumping not too much but a little more than often about 3 times this week as we have been practising at different places for arena uk. I left my john Whitaker tendon and fetlock boots on in the field as I forgot completely last night and tonight I went up and I was taking them all off and I think I took one tendon boot off too quickly and he got a shock and stumbled, it's been incredibly hot atm and there was a disgusting stench on the boot not like sweat but a vile smell, i thought **** there is something wrong with him! He was picking it up a little but then resumed to put full weight on it then walked off like nothing happend and I trotted him and he was sound, any ideas what the stench could be????

Bacteria breeding under the wet, sweaty boots I would think. Keep an eye on his skin as you might find he gets an infection from the skin not being able to dry out under the boots and the bacteria getting a foothold.

Wash the boots in dilute hibiscrub and leave to dry in the sun .
I think I would be tempted wash his legs in very dilute hibiscrub too then dry well .
Have a good check for any little rubs at the same time .
