i have just come back from to find my two ponies very depressed and quiet checked yearling over she sore and had dried blood round her bottom and her belly's hard and round went to get new pony in and shes all swollen round her jaw and is in pain no marks or wounds rang vet going to see if they can get some one out later very worried!!!

OMG - sounds very odd. I'd be phoning the vet back and asking for their expected time of arrival I think. Are they DEFINITELY sending someone out later?

Well I hope they can get someone out!

Where under their chins are the swollen, near the muzzle or right up where the head joins to the neck? If it's under the muzzle have you checked inside their mouths?

Could they have eaten somthing in the field that has caused the swelling around the jaw? Perhaps this has caused the bloated tummy too, sorry only guessing I'm afraid. Hope you have answers soon and that they are ok.

Christ, that sounds horrible

I think I'd be insitsing that the vet comes out now if I were you.

Agree, I think you must INSIST a vet comes our, poor things. Hope they are OK soon.

that sound awful i think you should insist the vet come now or phone another vet if they wont come

well 4 vets later and vets been looks like they both got colic and the yearling with the blood could be because shes got under the fence and got in to a ditch full of stanic water and its up set her (vets still bit worried) they have had bute but not eating the swelling is there glands are up really high and they got rasied heart beat got to keep a eye on them. The vet said give call monday if no better. there both stood feeling very sorry for them selfs

Sounds very odd to me tbh, how on earth did it get under the fence and into a ditch?

Did vet not give buscopan? Did he not suggest a reason for why they've got colic?

he led under it and got up broke the fence then got to the ditch to have a paddle she loves water. Not sure why they got colic no didnt give buscopan i keeping close eye and will get another vet if things change

Which vets???? Id be a bit concerned if my vet gave a bit of bute and was happy to leave them till monday???

I agree with bossanova here, Is it not odd that both horses had colic at the same time? and if one did get under the fence into a ditch how did it get back?, keep a really close eye on them and i would be inclined to call the vet back tomorrow or another vet if not greatly improved.
good luck to you all I really hope they are better in the morning x
