urgent poultice challenge - ideas please?

Of course when i need it my first aid kits has vanished, and its the 1st tomorrow, so good old Tesco is needed, plus my H&H experts!

What can i use for a poultice that i can get from somewhere like Tesco on new years day? Obviously nappies but what about the poultice ingredients themself? (its a hoof abbess)

Can you buy epsom salts in Tesco? Otherwise do you have any linseed or bran? If I have nothing else I use just nappy with hot water.

Has the abscess already burst out?

I think napies have some sort of anti bac/fungal agent in them already?! So wet nappy should be good enough?

Iodine and sugar?

Thinking about it, if you put a good layer of cling film under a hot nappy it would stay warm for a good while ?

I would use nappy and hot water with Epsom salts (which I think tesco sell) but failing that just plain old table salt will work for a day at least.

Ps honey has some greart properties we use it on labouring women. however you need factor of 15+ to be any good antibacterial wise, no idea what standard off shelf honey has in it. Hopefully Tesco will sell espons salts and nappies.

Is is Manuka Honey ? I can remember my vet giving me some to put on a wound with proud flesh forming. The result was simply astounding.

My vet swears by 'sugardine' - iodine and sugar, he says it has a strong drawing action to pull the gunk out.

Bread & honey for emergency.
Salts & iodine is another good contender.

Have used both the above sucessfully - plain bread in nappy worked well when stuck out the back-end of Turkey one year many lifetimes ago (dont ask!!)
