URGENT Staffie needs home

I better keep my opinions on this to myself this evening, but OP, don't be offended by any negative posts on this. As much as we all want to be able to help...our abilities to do that are stretched beyond the limits by the selfish individuals that take on animals without the responsible plans in place to secure their future should they be unable to cope at any time.

This dog is literally one of thousands that is being let down by humans. I don't care about the circumstances...there should have been a plan in place for this dog before the owners even took it home to ensure it wouldn't end up on facebook hoping for a stranger to take it in :mad::mad:

I apologise now for what I am about to write but I just can't help myself.

I see cases like this every day. If a decision is taken to buy/rehome a dog ( or any animal tbh) then that should be considered to be a forever home no matter what. The owner is responsible to make those decisions BEFORE taking that dog home!!

OP I am sorry you are getting the brunt of my temper but I sick of being told the same story over and over again. Also a staff would not be considered either a traditional guard dog breed and certainly not suitable to live outside. Look how little coat they have. Maybe consider a dog with the ability to protect itself from the elements next time. Then the owner of this staff won't have this issue again.

Mondy what on earth was the point in that sarcastic comment? There are thousands of children in need of homes and if someone made that comment there would be uproar, and quite rightly..

Children in need of homes are not advertised with a sob story all over facebook though are they? Children needing homes are dealt with by the authorities and there is a specific system in place to ensure, or at least try to ensure their wellbeing.

Animals have a different fate. They are bought, often with no long term plan in place, then advertised with a sob story to thousands via social network sites such as facebook.

Send your dog to an animal sanctuary or charity where its welfare is put first or have your dog put to sleep.

Putting your animal out there for anyone to take is the most irresponsible, inhumane and disgraceful way to handle a situation. This is how animals end up in emaciated states being scooped off the side of the road, beaten black and blue, used for fighting, used as punching bags or simply left without proper care.

It honest to goodness makes my blood boil.

When I took on every one of my animals, I made sure that I had back up plans, long term plans for the rehoming of all of them should anything happen to me. Those people agreed and they also had backup plans. Those plans include that the animals be put to sleep should their future not be able to be secured for any reason. This is because I love them, am responsible for them and would never allow them to end up plastered over facebook with a very uncertain future ahead of them.

On my soap box? Hell yeah...not feeling as polite as I was last night...but why should I? It sickens me to see loving animals in this situation.

I will add that this post is not a direct dig at anyone on here, but a way of communicating why you may see sarcasrtic/negative comments.

I would like to see dog licensing returned. With some pretty stiff regulations and expense before being issued.
I know it would be tough on responsible dog owners who are the majority but something has to be done to sort the dog problem out.
Another youngster killed by dogs, the poor dogs being blamed and demonised by the public.
No real details released as far as I know but you can pretty much guarantee, too many dogs (forming a pack) kept in too small a place, lazy owners not excercising and stimulating them, shut up all day going stir crazy. It makes my blood boil.
Then you have these breeds put on face book of all places, where if they get a home it will probably be another wrong one.
I don't do face book so haven't Seen details but whilst I know circumstances can change, if you can't guarantee your dogs future, whatever happens in your life, then don't have one.
Strictly enforced licensing, no dog out in public without licence, jumping through hoops before licence issued, and a massive crack down breeding.
Unpopular and probably extreme I know, but it would sort out the real dog people from the low life rabble.
Ban a whole heap of people from having a dog and there would be no need to ban any breed.
Every staffie I have ever known has been a wonderful dog, but they have all belonged to responsible people. In the wrong hands any dog will either be a nuisance/danger or will suffer itself. The time has come to make a better life for all dogs and a safer place for humans.

^^^^^^^

Excellent post Ribbons.

If only eh !

No-one will have the balls to ban chavs from having dogs though. Can't discriminate against the irresponsible and no brain cell brigade I mean how will they supplement their benefits is they can't breed litters or hold dog fight nights when they like.

I'm not disputing that _GG_ but it really isn't the dogs fault. The dog deserves a loving home. If I had enough money I'd take in loads more rescues, it all knocks me sick. But it's sadly the way it is! :(

No, it isn't...which is why it makes me so mad. I would much rather dogs be rehomed responsibly through charities and sanctuaries than on Facebook to god knows who...that's all.

Good. Whoever thought a Stafford would be happy outside obviously did not research the breed at ALL. Mine have a selection of rugs for the yard and all really feel the cold. Guard dog...mine are brilliant at telling me if anyone comes near but that's it. Anyone who has or knows staffords would understand that of course the boy was delighted to be indoors and near humans!

This crisis is why so many of my friends who love these dogs end up making room for another one. One good friend is now up to to 5...she has a thing for trying to take on the older staffords no one wants but its such a big tie if you are a properly responsible owner. I have 3 when 2 would have been plenty..
