Hi

i'm posting this in dogs too.

i have just checked an old email address that i never check... and found an email from a week ago saying a dog of mine (that was stolen about 3 yrs ago from me) has been found as a stray, and that my contact details were on his microchip.

i tried ringing them, but the office is shut. i tried the out of hours number, but it was for household repair emergencies only.

i am PETRIFIED that he'll be sold on, and i desperately want to go and get him. will he have been sent to an RSPCA centre? cos they must have had him for at least a week as email is a week old.

i'm heartbroken. they describe him as a 'stray'. the poor poor thing.

does anyone know what kennel he would have gone to? so i can ring and check he's ok, and stil there?

help, please. my heart is aching with worry.

Call the local police centre they will give you the details of the dog warden and you should be able to contact out of hours good luck let us know how you get on

Sorry cant help with your situation exept to say that a few years ago when i was looking for a stolen dog i was told that if found he would end up in dogs home, via dog warden, rspca etc. Once there they always keep all dogs for a least a week before trying to rehome.

So if your email is only a week old chances are he is in a dog home local to where he was found and fingures crossed you can sort it out in the morning.

Best of luck to you.

wow good luck, and let us hear any news.

Good luck and let us know what happens. I dont think they can destroy it if it is any comfort.

norfolk police don't deal with 'stray' dogs (i wanted to scream "he's not stray, he was stolen!").

they told me all i can do is ring the dog warden in the morning.

but, i won't be able to sleep. he must be in a kennel somewhere. oh god. the poor thing.

x

They can only have picked him up a week ago as all dogs are scanned for chips as soon as found.

I think its looking very hopefull for you, but looks like your in for a sleepless night, doubt you can do much till morning.

He'll be fine until tomorrow, try not to worry. Just be thankful that he's turned up, and you'll be reunited soon

Ring first thing in the morning, and let us know how you get on

I worked at a Veterinary Surgery in North Norfolk until a few weeks ago. Their procedure is to keep a 'stray' dog for a few days where it is then sent on to a local rescue centre where it remains for at least a week.

I would suggest trying all local rescue centres/rehoming centres etc etc. However, at this time of night I doubt you will get a response. Don't worry - he wont go anywhere overnight

Good luck and let us know how it goes..

also reply to the e mail they sent you and put it on high priority so at least whoever sent it to you knows you are trying to get in touch

God poor puppy dog and poor you ((hugs)) but at least you know he is alive and being cared for somewhere.

Try posting on the dog pages forum - loads of knowledgable people on there who may be able to help, and many of the rescues post there too so you may get somewhere tonight... Good luck!!! http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/

When he was taken did you list him on the Doglost website??

i didn't know those sorts of websites existed... it was reported to the police at the time, but i suspect he was sold on (he was a very nice, well bred, boxer dog)

god, i'm a bag of nerves, i've looked on the website for south norfolk district council, and they have a section where they have photos of dogs they've found... and he's not on there. i am now worrying that his new 'owners' have claimed him.

huh.

Poor you - I'd be frantic with worry too. The dog warden will have had him but he will have then gone to whatever kennels they have a contract with. If he remained unclaimed he'd go to a rescue centre where he would not be passed on for over a week so you should still have time.

I know the thought of him being alone in a kennel isn't fun - but for him, he's probably in some sort of heaven. If he was described as a stray (poor boy) to have warmth and a bed isn't that bad.

I really hope you are reunited tomorrow - please let us know how you get on - I'll have everything crossed for you and your dog.

Hiya

Really hope you make contact soon with whoever is holding your dog and that you get your dog back.... not sure how long doglost has been running but its a brilliant site run by very dedicated people who will do all they can to help you get your dog back....it seems all too common now that dogs are stolen...

At the end of the day the best thing you did was microchip your dog so now after 3 years you will get him back as he is your dog..

OMG! I cant imagine how you are feling at the moment... but hope everything is ok.... please let us know as really feel for you at this moment... x
