Hello,

In the last few days my 1yr collie/staff cross has managed to come in with ticks attached....about 10 tiny grey ticks which are not too bad to deal with and a HUGE (well..prob not that big) brown tick that gave me nightmares. She has regular drops to the back of the neck for ticks and fleas and I have just re-applied the latest dose after also blitzing the house with spray. Is there anything else I can do, or any tips on removing them safely. I have always dealt with the odd tick with no problems but never so many at once...and from the garden as well. Not sure what else to do. Spending my evenings removing ticks isn't quite how I imagined the summer. Has anyone else noticed more this year than normal or is it just me being a wimp.

We live right next to a woodland and Freddie gets covered in them :-(

I bought a couple of tick hooks from the Lymes Disease website for about £1.50 which are excellent and they also have a lot of info about ticks generally. They also list 'how not' to remove them which I found really interesting as several of the methods they listed I have used in the past!! But don't now I've got my trusty tick hook :-)

Good luck :-)

My dog had a lot of ticks when he was younger, because he's always crawling through bushes etc.. :p We used spray and I think that helped, cause he still likes to explore the woods a lot and we don't get to deal with a lot of ticks anymore.
