All the horses at our yard are separated into their own fields pretty much. Apart from one mare who is very highly strung, she spent all last year box walking so the yo allowed her owner to leave her out with another pony for the winter hoping that would allow her to relax more. Their field backs onto bens and this morning after Ben was turned out the bust their electric fencing and pushed open the gate that opens into his field. Sometime before 9.30 am he then went into their field, the gate closed behind him and he spent the day in with them.
This evening I went to get him in and he wasn't in his field. I walked up to find him being herded by the mare, bless him, the second I saw him he bolted for me and the gate, and stood next to me shaking with relief. He was lagged top to toe, think skewbald horse turned bay overnight! Poor wee sod then had to go through a cold hosing off (which he hated) and a towel dry before being put in his stable, he really looked like he was wearing a mud onsie!
