Urgh yet another potential horse not worked out.....

Really not having much luck with this horse hunting malarky!

The latest one which seemed really promising and within budget looks as though it will fall through before we even get to go and look at it. The owner is having second thoughts about selling.

So far we haven't even been to see a horse, the first one we liked the owner changed her mind about selling, the next one sold (to someone who went to look at another) the day before we went to view, the third the owner decided they wanted more for it which took it over budget, and now this one.

We've got a couple more irons in the fire but it is starting to get a bit disappointing and disheartening. I had a good feeling about this one.....

Oh well, bit of a pointless post really just wanted to share.

We've been looking for almost that long already, although Christmas and snow put things on hold for a while.

We haven't really been trawling the ads, mainly word of mouth stuff and a local reputable dealer. Just seems to be taking forever.....

I don't want to rush and make a bad decision, I'm just fed up of things falling through.
 
Fate, besides its better to take your time than reel pressured because your in a hurry ...well getting narked off because you can't find one, don't give up the right one is out there for you.

Oh I know we keep saying "we're in no hurry whenever the right horse comes along", but we made the decision to buy at the end of October. Didn't think it would take so long or that we would have so many false starts....

As we aren't even getting to try these horses it isn't even really helping us narrow down our criteria or be more sure of our decision.

We're looking for something over 16hh but preferably not too massive! ID, ISH, Warmblood or similar, needs to be up to carrying my husband as it will be a share so needs to have a bit of bone and decent girth, but we don't want a cob type.

Ideally 5 or 6 years old, but 7 would be ok and we'd take a look at a 4 year old if it was quite well on in its training and a sensible sort.

It needs to be a good all rounder as we'll be sharing, but with reasonable potential. Hubby is into dressage and maybe some showing, whereas I jump too and would like to hunt. We have only competed RC so far but would like to be able to do more in time. We are happy to spend a bit of time working with the horse, it doesn't have to be ready to compete now, as we won't have any transport this year.

Needs to be fairly sane as hubby can get nervous at times but doesn't have to be a saint and definitely shouldn't be a plod!

We are in the east midlands and need to look fairly locally so we aren't dragging our instructor all over the place viewing horses (we do want her help).

If anyone knows of anything suitable let me know.

I know its all disheartening, but look at it this way.... YOUR GETTING YOUR OWN HORSE!! How EXCITING!!!

I know if I was able to start looking for a horse, I wouldn't care if it took me 6 months.... the fact that I can even SERIOUSLY look for one, instead off window shop, would be great!!

Mind you... I wouldn't need to look far.... Horlicks (in siggy) would be my first choice!!!!

It's always hard to find the right one, and I know it's probably not what you want to hear but I believe everything happens for a reason and if all have fallen through so far, they weren't THE ONE. Keep your head up and keep looking! Your new baby will find you soon!
 
Thanks folks for the posts and the PMs, it has made me feel a bit better, and I know in my heart of hearts that it will happen when it happens and that the right one will come along.

The one on my yard..... i can push for a price if you want, started to get to know the owner a bit more now. She jumped him yesterday and i wasnt there to take pictures as in an exam damn it!

I dont think she has any photos or i would have got them by now, can get a vid at some point, or you can just ring her, shes a BHSII So knows what shes talking about and wouldnt try to sell you a horse that wouldnt suit!

Keep your chin up - it took me 9 long months, 2 failed vettings and 2 gazzumpings to finally find my horse, I had actually given up and almost didn't bother to go and see him as I had had so many wasted long journeys but he was worth it and it all fell into place, it is a miserable experience most of the time but in the end I got some help from an equine agent and she saved me a lot of time and pointless travelling. Good luck - the right horse will find you in the end.
