ive been to check my mother in laws house as its up for sale and empty since april- there was a window open so i went upstairs to shut it came back down stairs ,picked up the mail and locked up. got in the car and OMG i was jumping in fleas!!! im talking infestation -me and OH jumped back out of the car banging and jumping about trying to shake them off- the house must be CRAWLING . just about to phone the exterminator cos im not going back in!!! we came back home and stripped naked in the utility room and checked each other over like chimps in the zoo -all clothes shoes etc we were wearing went in plastic bags with acclaim spray and will be going on a hot wash ,then we ran through the house naked to the bathroom with our 13 and 14 yr old boys watching us with very bemused expressions! we also sprayed the car in case any of the blighters think that will be a good place to live. can u tell i HATE fleas !!

I was an RSPCA Inspector for many years, and the one thing I could NOT STAND was fleas. If I was driving and I saw one on my clothes, It took all my strength not to crash the van. I carried a huge bottle of Frontline, and boy did I use it if an animal was infested. And on my ankles too.

I saw one on my terrier last month and all hell broke loose till we could get to the vet. My dogs NEVER get fleas, ;)

Frontline doesn't seem to work anymore :( I had a lovely pair of cats given free in the newspaper and the place I collected them from was riddled, the carpet moved with them, grabbed the cats and ran took ages to get rid of them.

I have tried Frontline and Stronghold on my cats and I still find the odd flea hopping around. I have Indorexed the house too. Not sure what to try next, they are becoming immune to the chemicals I think.

Fronline still works fine on my Cats (There Stuffed) No not really only joking but I only use it occasionally as a last resort from the Flea Comb, I dont like using chemicals on them.

Apparently the active ingredient in Frontline doesn't work anymore. I don't know the ins and outs of it but my cousin, who is a vet, told me this. I had just Frontlined my cats, and guess what, it didn't work. I had to get Stronghold from the vets, and at twice the price, but at least it killed the jumping buggers :(

Frontline no longer works on my cat. Vet called him a fleabag & prescribed Advocate that worked brilliantly.

Stronghold is great but kills eggs and covers the area they sleep etc as well which frontline don't. Frontline just kills the fleas that bite so you still have the eggs etc hatching. So I find it pointless

Oh for anybody who does like frontline there's a new product out called " fleaclear" by bob martain. It's the same as frontline to a T but half the price.

I don't know about frontline now, but it sure worked back then. I had a round of animals that I would check up on every three months or so - their elderly owners would never get them sorted, so I kept an eye on them. Had some amazing results.

I do have a fantastic kill-all insecticide for the house, and it is serious stuff - so serious I've only ever used it twice, plus I do our mattresses once every year. And don't sleep on them for a fortnight afterwards. In fact, only used when we go on holiday ! Got that at the vet.

If frontline isn't working, I would go straight to advocate or stronghold, and stay far far away from Bob Martin. Aside from not working, it kills cats on a fairly regular basis, in a pretty horrific way.

OMG ^^ agree ! Only get flea stuff from your vet - a lot of those over the counter products just make things worse. Avoid flea collars (do they still sell them ?) and follow the product advice....... tbh, I don't use the stuff as regularly as they say you should - chemicals and all that.

Worming is also essential as there is a link between a worm (can't remember which) and fleas.

That's it ! I prosecuted a bloke who's GSD was bald because of fleas, and he told me it was all because there were tapeworms living in the bottom of the garden. All coming back to me now.......he got convicted ;)

fleas are horrendous this year, we have never been so bad, i normally treat all the animals with frontline once a year when the weather gets warmer but this year the fleas are so bad its driving me nuts, i then purchased some stuff called advantage and rip spray for the house yet we still have damn fleas. I ve spent a fortune on flea stuff :-(
