Hello there!
Just wondering about what might be causing my mares strange urinating habits..i'm nt particularly happy.
For a couple of months she's been peeing excessively[up to about 3 times in the couple of hours i have her out of the field] she sometimes has a bit of trouble doing it too.
I just presumed to start with it might be a bit of season trouble but i think its a bit late for that now.
I also think she has a bit of back trouble too with head tossing and shaking[more tossing though]
A couple of people have suggested some things but i dont know what, any info much obliged...oh and i am also getting the vet out...just to not make me seem even worse an owner!

p.s, sorry about any spelling mistakes-new laptop!

She could certainly have a urinary Tract Infection or cystitis. I would get the vet out asap, it can be very painful and also bad for her to have an infection untreated.

as she has had the back pain and peeing excessively, i would assume that she has a kidney infection - my horse had one last winter and he kept peeing all the time and as soon i had finished riding him he was peeing.

take a pee sample for the vet ( i used a jar and rubber gloves

) and have it ready for when he comes. usually they will need antibiotics and maybe some collovet to replenish the nutritions that she will have lost through peeing so much!:D

as the offical answer: when in doubt, call the vet

keep us updated with her!

*waves goodbye*

Thanks for the feedback guys, vet is out on monday.
Had a feeling she might need a pee sample so i've made an attempt to get her to pee on command...not working :p
