I have a young hunter came over from Ireland last September
Last Monday we took him in the lorry for a trial at an indoor school his first trip since arrival He behaved beautifully but when he returned he had a rash under his rug I assume urticaria I wonder what caused it. We did give him Aconite Weleda 6c before he travelled ??? Anyone else had a problem.
His normal routine has not changed, nor his diet
The rash remained but caused no distress no temperature.
Infact we went to a show on Saturday and again we gave him aconite.
Today the rash is still there I do not want to go down the steriod route as I dont trust them Has anyone got any suggestions please

The aconite probably has no bearing although it may be that your horse is sensitive to it....as with all things.

Reason for post however is that if you DO decide to give steroids make sure you let your vet know that you have given a homoeopathic remedy as i have seen a horse go down the same route have a massive interreaction. The owner denied point blank that any alternative remedies had been given and blamed the vet for the problem but having done a bit of research I discovered that the symptoms the horse displayed after the steroid jab where entirely linked with the homoeopathic action. It was as if the homoeopathy had been magnified a thousand times. (Or diminished depending on how you look at it!)

Anyway....just a heads up.

I guess it was probably a heat/stress rash caused by travelling , my youngster had something similar on his first 2 or 3 days out ,and it went down after a few days.
Dont do steroids please., unless a LAST resort... serious risk of laminitis etc ect ect!!

You all confirm my thoughts I lost a horse after steroid injections due to lamanitis so that route is out of the scenario!!!!
thanks for your input.
