Using a three ring gag with double reins?

Apparently you're meant to use a three ring, as above, with double reins?

I have never heard or seen this before, is it true?

I have only ever ridden in a 3 ring gag with single reins but have seen people ride in them with double.

It is correct yes to ride in couble reins and up 10 years ago you were not allowed to pony club without double reins.
I have never ridden using single reins and I'd imagine it would give your horse confusing messages in single reins.

The correct way of using them is with double reins and some people also use curb chains with them.

I always think single reins are better than bloody roundings though!

Yes, this is very true about giving horse's mixed signals. I don't like riding in them if possible.

It is correct to use a Dutch gag with double reins. That way you can ride your horse mainly on the snaffle ring and only use the rein on the stronger rein when it is needed.

I use double reins although i've never actually been told you were supposed to i just thought it would be a good idea. I hate roundings on 3 ring gags too, awful!!

I've only ever ridden with a single rein when using the gag and the pony gets on fine with it

I used double reins with mine on snaffle and 2nd ring, so that I only used the 2nd ring when I needed extra brakes
