To cheer everyone up (along with the cake post)

I got hit in the face with a canoe paddle on Halloween (long story)
I had to go to work the next day. I had nothing to put on the bruise to make it go down. Ah ha I remembered I had some arnica gel from when horsey had a bruised sole in the summer. Apparently it 'draws out' bruising. So I slapped a load of that on my bruise.

Crikey it looks bad now! 10 days later and it's still horrific! Not recommended!

What horse products have you tried on your own person for whatever reason?

canoe paddle??

Myself and another groom a few years ago( ok a lot of years ago-she has a child at highschool now!!)
We were invited out by some local lads, but we got back later from an event than we had planned. So we didnt have time to do a lot in the way of cleaning ourselves up. So we washed our hair under the cold taps on the yard  -using horse shampoo-not sure if i should say the name?
used a tail detangler as conditioner, and the dog groomers massive dryer to dry our locks! managed to get a change of clothes at a friends house en route and had fab time in the most disgusting smelling farmers haunt of a pub, where we told on several occaisions how nice the girly smell from us was!!:):D
goes without saying cornucrescine is used on my nails on a regular basis!!

That's genius! If my horsey wasn't 14 miles from my house that's the kind of thing I'd do ...

"What's your secret ingredient?"
" ... Bailey's."

Think I have arthritis in my little finger (left hand) and am considering trying NAF Superflex powder as my 15 year old useless horse and pet has been on it for the last 5 years.

I may as well try it out myself to see if it really works! Not sure how to take it though - will probably just stick my finger in the powder and lick it off.

NAF Arnica Gel-not had problems of original poster! and NAF MSM much cheaper than buying human version and one of the NAF people said they used it themselves so that convinced me

Some great ideas here... I often wondered what it would be like to use horse shampoo on myself - I have Cowboy Magic greenspot remover and that says that dirty cowboys can use it on their armpits. So there's one to have a go with.
Wonder Gel is very nice, I have some and will use it next time I have a sting/nettlerash.
I may try cornucrescine on my nails before my wedding in the summer.
I always taste my horse's food too, to see what it's like. All high fibre so a bit gritty :( My old horse ate coarse mix which was much nicer to nibble on when hungry at the yard.

I also wonder if anyone has used vetrap as an alternative to tape when wearing a strapless top?

My grandma, who was a nurse, always used 'horse liniment' on aches and pains - don't know what it was exactly, but she always smelt lovely!

Canoe paddle? This sounds amusing, are you another Starzaan in the making? :p :D I don't know about actual horsey products but we do share things, probably quite gross really; things like sudocrem, baby oil and vaseline  :p :) xx

Gold label wondergel on bites / nettle stings / prickly arms after unloading hay! :D

Worked wonders on OH eczema, he had tried everything from the GP with little affect, Wondergel cleared it up in a matter of days, (it was his idea to use it not mine!)

We both use the Equisage, and arnica gel when needed.

I take Equifeast Fight Back to help with immune system/ arthritis problems

Gold label wondergel on cuts / grazes / burns etc

Witchazel and arnica gel on bruises.

Vetwrap in place of normal bandages - much easier to keep in place, no stupid saftey pins!

Garlic when I couldn't find any of my own

I eat their carrots all the time

I've also tried likits. The mint and apple ones are ok but I'm not convinced by carrot flavour!

Equillibrum massage pad on me and members of family when hurt backs.
Arnica on bruises brought them out a treat.
Embrocation when been stiff and sore
Vet wrap on strains
My friend still has half a shachet of bute in her scrambled eggs if she has a bad hangover, not tried it my self but she swears by it
Most things in the vet room i think if they are licensed for the jockey club they must be well tested so hence is fine to use on me.
Also used to nibble on the horses course mix if i was hungry at the yard.
