Using Seat more for transitions & riding straight, tips please:)

Hi All,

I really need to start riding upwards & downwards transitions from my seat with less use of my hands - am not heavy with my hands but would like to be able to get my mare to understand from my seat what I am asking her to do
Tips please or exercises I could do?

Also she is quite crooked while walking down a centre line - I have been clasping my hands together & trying to keep her straight from using my legs but she is unbelievably crooked!
