ok so as title says

little mare is at vets being flushed out and having antibiotics into the uterus from finding out she had an infection

what we thought was her having bad seasons was actually the infection coming out

update today was a bit of a shock

they have found a marble inside --we didn't know it was in there

they have said it is quite deep down and could not be felt by palpatation

they are going to try and remove it but this may not be easy and may have to leave it in if all fails

i asked if the marble caused the infection and would she of been in pain with this going on --they said probably not but i can't help thinking this could explain some of her behaviour over months

-tight through the back --stroppy strides when ridden--agressive behaviour -- uptight and moody in herself

these symptoms were the reason we took her to the vets to check her ovaries but they are ok from the scan

anyone else had this experience

well i can only answer it with...

my mare has had a marble in for a few years now with no signs of infection and if your mare has had one in without problems the actual marble itself would not have caused the infection . ie the infection would have occurred at the time of insertion if it was the marble that caused it.

removing a marble , especially from a maiden mare , is difficult. My vet made me promise I would never want Taz's out ..... ever !!!!

Infections of anywhere are very often painful and it would make sense to me that the symptoms you give are from the infection. Time will tell..... if the sypmtoms go away once the infection dealt with then you have your answer ;)

marbles usually stop mares coming into season but not always .... had she still been having them ???
