Utterly depressed...

I hate this selling horses malarky. Its making me feel like a pile of cr*p. I'm having no luck selling my beloved ginger nut and I dont know what to do. I've been as honest as you can possibly be, I've allowed people to come back time and again to try him. I've lowered my price and I have someone helping me ride to show him off to his best and still nothing. I am now at a loss as to what else can be done. Everyone keeps telling me what a lovely horse he is but why is no one buying him?

Sorry for the pointless post but I just feel so utterly rubbish.

Yup, they have all said he is wonderful with a temperament to die for, but is a little more work than they want. Well thats why I've advertised him as a bit green and requiring someone to bring him on! I really wish they would read the advert properly and not waste my time.

The problem could be that a lot of people who would be looking for a horse to bring on would be looking at youngsters... anything between 3 and 6 years old. Something that they can "educate" and bring through the age classes. A lot of people who'd be looking at 12-year-old horses would be expecting schoolmaster-type horses.

So I think the best thing to do is school him until he becomes that schoolmaster-type horse... have you tried contacting riding clubs directly?

Hope you will find someone - the markets are difficult for selling horses at the moment, and I don't see it getting any better in the next two years or so!!!

They are often asked if they know of anything for someone else - they might know someone who's looking?

I know at that age people are looking for something with more experience, but he is low milage for his age. The reason I am selling is that I cant give him the work to be a school master, because of my knackered joints.

Oooh Buckhorn Weston is only down the road from me, but I've never heard of them....

How about loaning him for a few months? There's always good local riders looking, and it would be a win-win. (He gets a bit of extra work, they get something to ride.)
