So I've been looking and trying different calmers for my youngster who gets very excited and loses his head when ANYTHING exciting happens around him, whether it's ridden or not. He's fine in our indoor, working on his own.

I thought I'd give V-Calm a try as I'd only seen positive things about it online.
Whilst he was on this he certainly seemed to tire more quickly, so I would lunge for 15 minutes and he would seem much more tired than he would before (he's surprisingly fit got a 4yo!) I rode outside in the new arena for the first time (yard very quiet, early morning) he was good as gold.

In the stable however, he seemed really agitated and edgy. (These were only thoughts in the back of mind, I only said something to my Mum when he'd run out and I decided not to buy it again, to which my Mum said she'd actually been thinking the same, but didn't want to say anything!) He's usually fine in his stable, chilled out, watching the world go by. But on the calmer he became stroppy, needy and unsettled. Nothing else had changed, his routine still the same, no new neighbours etc. He just wasn't very happy on it. He ran out Thursday morning and by Friday night he was chilled out and happy again. The change was quite obvious to me.

He started on a new on calmer at the weekend and so far so good. I just wondered if anyone has had this happen before? V-Calm isn't magnesium based, I've previously used Relax Me which was great to start with but started to not make a lot of difference which I've heard could be down to magnesium levels.

Just a musing really.

My boy hated V-Calm & it made him ten times worse. I think because it contains a mild sedative in it, which he tries to fight.

I've seen brilliant results on NAF Magic though with him though.
