Just picked Allie up from school and was driving home along a long road. Noticed a load of cars parked up and assumed they were following the hunt. Remarked to A that they were doing so, when a hound, on it's own, leapt out straight in front of my car from a bush. By the grace of god it missed my wheels buy no idea how.

I turned round (with A screaming) to follow the pup and check it wasn't lost, but lost it, so went back to the hunt and asked if they'd seen it. Apparently it has gone off after a lone rider.

Anyway, bloody hell scared the crap out of me!! If the dogs are gonna be loose on the roads individually surely a sign should go up or something. I would have felt horrific had I hit it!!

Xx

Country roads are worse than town ones less stopping times because of hedges and bends which is why I always drive slow and keep an eye out for the unexpected, could've been any stray animal.

I was doing 30 on a 50 road anyway, and its dead straight and easily 2 cars wide so I think I drive like a berk along it but I do sometimes meet riders so I always drive slowly.

I dunno, obviously just me that thought it was odd! I hope it was meant to be on its own. xx

Sounds like the hound had got segregated from the pack somehow and the lone rider you mention, was possibly a "whip", trying to return the hound to the pack.
It would not of meant to be on it's own.

If it wasn't a hound it could have been a deer...at least you were half aware the hunt were around...may have help you stop it time...if it was in town it could have just as easily have happened with some thing...never know whats going to jump out at us...thank god we miss 99% of the things that do

Nah was definitely a hound, managed to follow it for a while with A yelling "thats a funny looking doggy"!!! Well I had slowed for horses. It looked quite happy bless its heart, running along. xxx

oh i don't doubt it was a hound they do get lost sometimes...i just meant it could be a deer as in the next time or a fox etc...we had a hound pup at the local school a few weeks ago...lost the pack and went for a jolly to see the kids...by all account it was given lunch while they waited for someone to pick him up...
