Someone brought me an abandoned small white call duck yesterday. very friendly, very very cute, flight feathers clipped. s/he (probably a girl, as very vocal!) is staying with me, but isn't very interested in my chickens so is very lonely (follows me around all the time!). i've been trying to find a call duck breeder with juveniles or a breeding pair for sale, all night! any ideas really appreciated... willing to travel about an hour or so from p'boro to collect. thanks!
p.s. any duck experts around? would runner ducks endanger her (if it is a girl)? i've always fancied a few runner ducks...

Ive kept call ducks and runners together before and found that any female duck will suffer at the hands(wings!) of the drake no matter what breed!
My little call ducks generally get on fab with the runners though and easily outrun/swim them if they want to, so no probs!

Oh I wish you were nearer. Our yard lost a lovely call duck today and it would have been lovely to present our YO with a replacement and new friend for the other two.

i think they would be ok my parents have got karki cambells and appleyards which are twice the size and the karkis are dominent ones, and from experience call ducks can look after themselves they tend to suffer from short man syndrome, a friend has 2 and they chase off dogs!

OldWoodPoultrySupplies seem to be advertising call ducks for sale - no good at this computer malarkey so can't post the link. They say they go to sales at Swaffham & Melton Mowbray so can't be miles away from you. Hope you can find him/her a friend.

My Mum has a very lonely male call duck who lost his mate last week. He is very upset so I am looking for a new friend for him. My parents have one other duck, a female rescued mallard and a number of chickens. They are all kept as pets. If you were looking for a new home for your duck then I am sure she would be happy with us. Please let me know.

I am travelling to near Peterborough tomorrow.
