I have just been on my Riding Club's vaccination checker. I thought horses should have Jab 1, one month later Jab 2, 3 months later Jab 3, 6 months later Jab 4, then yearly. Is this correct, or has mine had one extra??

Also - when it says boosters every year - if it is done on the same day as the year before, is this ok under Riding Club rules, or does it need to be one day earlier each year? If you see what I mean :p

Thanks for reading :)

vacc should be jab 2 one month later jab 3 6 months and then yearly. and annual jabs can be give on the date of the last jab. for example is the jab was give on the 1/9/10 then it can be given up and including the 1/9/11

It should go Jab 1, Jab 2 a month later, Jab 3 6 months later then yearly after that. They should be done yearly but not be done even a day late. On the same date as the previous year is fine. Most people go for the day before or a few days before just to make sure it gets done incase the vet gets called out for an emergency and can't get to you that day.

There was a thread knocking about on here yesterday (i think) on this. My mare had to be restarted in Jan when we bought her and hers went ...1st vacc, 2nd vacc 4-6weeks later (i when for week 5 so right in the middle) and 3rd 6months later.

Thanks guys :)

So my vets have happily given my boy a vaccination extra... hmm... words tomorrow I think... I even specifically ASKED them when I rang to book it because it's so long since I started a course I couldn't remember... and they agreed initial, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months then yearly. Not pleased.

Hope they don't get any emergencies tomorrow, we were booked today and something happened and they couldn't make it. Tomorrow is the last day he can have it before we have to restart. Fingers crossed for me :D lol
