Hi all, been desperatley trying to find a vet in London who will come and jab Banjo for tet and flu, (he's never been started), have called every vet in the directory, phoned the riding schools, everything! The only vet who will come out charges £300 call out! There MUST be someone cheaper than that! Please can anyone advise - I don't have a driving licence or access to a horsebox. And to make matters worse, B has cut his leg and I'm freaking out!!!

Where abouts in London are you? Have you tried some small animal vets? They may be able to advise you.

£300????? OMG!!!

Sorry, cant help, Im just in shock at the call out charge!

Called every vet in a 30 mile radius - and some beyond! Its crazy! Someone should open an equine vet practice in London, they would make a fortune! Seriously though, what can I do? Am I wrong to panic about this cut he has? I think he scraped some metal in the yard but not 100% sure.

Where abouts in London are you though? As there are vets slightly outside the area that may come out?

I'm in Central London, near Vauxhall. All the local riding schools said there is no one in London and they get people from outside to come in - but there is a massive service charge! Its ridiculous! One yard has offered to go 50/50 on it with me but I still think £150 for an injection is obscene!

It sounds like you may have to bite the bullet and just have it done, or try and contact someone in the next nearest county to yourself? Or see how much itis to hire transport and go to the vets?

You could share transport costs with the other person on your yard, or find out if any of the riding schools locally are having theirs done soon and take the horse there, and give them some money towards callout.

But if he's got a cut you really might want to get the tet one done sooner rather than later to be safe...

Remember you're going to have to have them out a few times over the next 6 months to start the course properly.
