Does anyone store rugs in those vacuum bag things? I am severley needing to reduce the amount of space my rugs take up (and don't want to sell any before anyone suggests that

) so had thought of giving these a try. Experiences anyone .......?

havent put rugs in them, but have put in dovets, winter jumpers, excess clothes etc and they seem to be fine. Would think if they were OK for that lot, they would be OK for rugs

Interesting you say this - Dad suggested doing the same for mine, apparently Aldi had some in, weather they still do or not I don't know.

I have loooooooads of rugs.....too little space.

cheaper alternative. if you get some good quality black bin bags, fold up the rugs so the buckles are on the inside, gather up the open end and put the nozzle of the vacume cleaner in, suck out the air and seal with some packing tape, you might need some help, works just as well for a fraction of the price.
Or get some large laundry bags, the nylon ones with the handles, these hold 2 or 3 rugs.

I use them as I have limited space. Make sure they are really dry before storing. Certainly makes life easier and less smelly.

Our local saddlery shop has a rug washing and reproofing service so I get mine done at the end of the winter hang them for a few days to be sure they are dry and then into the bag they go along with the measurement for size - I have 5 horses all different sizes.

I've used them in the past and they are brill they really do reduce the size of the rug

I bought some from matalan that you don't need to hoover out - you just push the air out and it can't get back in till you unseal it - hope that makes sense!! They are great and are quite thick so no probs with buckles. I use them for holidays as well as you don't have a hoover the air out when you come home - you can get a lot more in your suitcase!
