Valarian cordial

Has anyone used this?
I am considering something i can use as a very short term calmer. My horse gets very over excited in new situations or riding with new horses- it wont last long after a few short hacks he will settle and be fine. The problem is i want to hack out with my young daughter on her new loan pony and its very scary for her- she dosent understand its just something he will get over if we keep trying and understandably is afraid to ride out with me! If i could use something for a week or so that would be enough i think. (i hope!)

well i saw it in Robinsons in a bottle so i guess liquid, Its just that its natural and fairly cheap but am not sure if its a feed every day thing or would work if given just before riding with this pony

Valarian cordial is very good but don't compete using it as it is banned by Jockey Club which means BSPS etc. Robinsons do it and there are many others that have valaria in. Magic is very good as well but that is a long term calmer and contains magnesium. Another new product is oxyshots and you can use that in the show ring as well.

I use valerian on my gelding. I think it helps tone down his spookiness, but it doesn't stop it completely. It's quite cheap to buy, so may be worth trying. You can order it online from various places - just Google Valerian cordial.
