I posted back in mid December that I was a hunting newbie looking to go out for first time in years. It turns out that the Vale of Aylesbury is my nearest hunt, so I've found someone who will hire me a horse no probs. Rang the secretary who was helpful and said they would email me a few dates, but then... nothing. I sent a text thanking him for his help and confirming my email address but still not heard anything.

What should I do?? Try another secretary? Do they think maybe I'm not a hunt supporter?? I could drag up a reference from the Berkeley if I'm really pushed but doubt they'll remember me.

So if anyone could suggest any meets with VofA that wouldn't scare the pants off a newbie. Please could you PM me!

Thanks. :D

Ring again & very politely remind the Secretary. Its easy to get an email address wrong. Give them another chance. The VofA has a lovely huntsman I think - Gerald Sumner. He used to be a Whipper In of our hunt.

Good Luck

Pick up the phone and politely remind them! A friend of mine is hunt sec and you could not believe how stupidly busy they get, they also have "lives" to live!! - it is more than possible that email or text went astray or possibly they got distracted.

They are also not sitting nicely at a desk all the time to take down details!!! - they could be building a jump in the middle of a field or doing something else hunt related!!

Give them a call or try another contact, if you still dont get any joy give me a PM and I will pass a message on.

They really are human and wont mind you calling again :)

Thanks, I do fully appreciate that hunt staff are very busy, which is why I have left it until after the Christmas period to raise my post again. Last thing I want is to be irritating.

I did also arrange my call for a convenient time so the secretary was at home not in a field!! I'm not that daft!

I think you are right, email probably went astray. I know hunts have to be careful who they give info to and I just wondered whether me being a random newbie had put them off rather than a communication thing.

I went hunting for the first time with them on Boxing Day, I spoke to Miles, he was very helpful - calling seemed to work, then he emailed me some info too. However I emailed again to ask for dates for the next meets and haven't heard....so possibly he is busy/ away at the mo?
