Valerenic acid is on there - is that a component of valerian?

I would like to use it just to help my new mare settle a bit, and for our first few unaff competitions but if its banned then will just use at home and not use for couple days before i compete

Its a tricky one Valerenic acid is an essential oil of the valerian plant so it really depends on the specifc product you choose. Some products will have non detectable levels of Valerenic Acid, however some, mainly the Valerian root derived products (liquid and powder) will almost definently contain valerenic acid and these are the most common on the market.

I'm not sure off the top of my head which products to recommend that will have the non detectable limits, might be a case reading the ingredients carefully on a few different products. Sorry if that dosen't help, serverly testing my own knowledge on this one too!

look on the packaging if using a horses orientated product and avoid global herb products as they haven't been tested for banned substances
