I have some of the Lincoln valerian cordial.

What dosage would you use for a one off use, like a horse that gets overexcited at a competition, and how soon before would you give it?

Sorry, I don't know about dosage.

But.... valerian is a banned substance so can not be used for any affiliated competition including showing.

Valerian as a substance is actually no longer on the FEI updated Prohibited Substance List that came into force on the 5th April 2010, so as far as I know you are ok to use it even in affiliated comps.

As for the dosage sorry I'm not sure but there was another post about this subject in the forum today from someone that has been using Valerian so maybe they can help.

Its 2 teaspoons in the feed. I use it and dont think you will get immediate results if used prior to a comp. Ive noticed a 'nice' if slight difference and Im using it daily

Meant to say Ive got the Lincoln too and it says how much to give on my bottle, I out 2 quick squirts in

I dont think its meant for use like that, there are syringes of stuff like magnitude??? oxishot?? for immediate effect. Names may be wrong but its somat like that.

I use equine herbals V calm, which contains 1:2 liquid extract of valerian and they reckon it works within 20 to 30 mins. I would give my 14.1 new forest 20 or 30 ml before a show, but I have found it works better if I give it to him the evening before.
