vanished thread re young horse?

I was just reading a thread started by a new poster asking about advice with her 5 year old she'd had since September. Anyone know why it's vanished? :confused:
 
Various things spring to mind:

1) reported and found to be a trolling a/c
2) reported by the OP as she didn't like advice she was getting and people's suspicions
3) it all kicked off in the last few minutes, got a bit heated, and was reported and removed. It hadn't kicked off by my last post but I did tell her that people were reacting badly (I think she called it being mean) because she wasn't listening to advice.

The above are all guesses though.
 
I started writing a reply to her (just before it turned really nasty by the sounds of it) suggesting she ignore the Troll Police if she's for real. I do think it must be very confusing and off putting if you're a genuine newbie wanting advice and people come in saying, "Hmmmm. Seems odd..." etc.

If you were genuine, it must just seem like people are talking in code! :D

I will never understand though why people can't just let the thread develop and see whether it turns out to be a troll post. Instead some jump in and accuse or drop hints. :rolleyes: If they're wrong, that's so rude and upsetting to a newcomer!

If someone's driven away by troll accusations, who was genuine and could have actually been helped by advice here, we are not dong their horse any favours. :(

I left the thread well alone. Because none of it really added up.

I wasn't suggesting you'd done otherwise. :) I don't actually remember who'd posted on it now, I just skimmed through it and could see the newbie was reacting badly to the troll acusations and wrote a post intended to calm things.

The thread had vanished when I tried to post though.
 
To be honest I only saw it when it was a few posts long, not really a reason but it just didn't stack up right to me. Trolly was probably the wrong word.

I cant see a new person getting a thread going the wrong way deleted that quickly either though.
 
HHO seems to a slightly different definition of a "troll" than elsewhere on the internet.:confused:

I always thought a troll was someone who comes into furums, usually shouting their mouth off, just being offensive and causing a fight. Here's one definition I found:

"Someone who gets pleasure by typing annoying/controversial/offensive words at strangers on internet forums, for them to read."

However, on here a poster who just "seems a bit odd" or might not be quite who they say they are (which, tbh, could be any of us;)) is accused of being a troll. Even if they've only ever been polite and friendly. :confused:
