Has anyone experience of dealing with vasculitis. My 17.2hh 15 year old gelding has developed this condition on his 3 white legs, (his black leg is not affected at all), and we have been dealing with it for over 6 months, having first thought it was mud fever. Further investigations by the vet has revealed that it is vasculitis but a number of treatments tried have not successfully combatted what is now an ongoing painful condition which which we just can't seem to clear up.

If it is only affecting his white legs then it is presumably pastern and cannon leukocytoclastic vasculitis. This is caused by the accumulation of photoactive substances in the skin. These usually originate from plants. When they are activated by sunlight they lead to inflammation which results in vasculitis, and necrosis of the skin. It is usually more evident on the outside aspect of the limbs. Covering the affected limbs with boots/bandages can help control the condition, otherwise topical steroid preparations can be used. Of course you may have tried all these things, in which case I'm not helping at all!

I assume your vet has investigated his liver function as this can also cause photosensitivity of white skin.
