Hi
We are in the process of designing a small yard to be built at home

We are trying to keep the roof height down so architect has suggested we use a veranda to provide a 10ft wide covered walkway infront of the stables. It would be 8.5 feet high and slightly sloping down...
There is a haybarn to complete the L shape at one end.... A normal tiled roof would go over the haybarn/stables.
He has suggested to use clear plastic corrugated so that maximum light is let in on the veranda....
Sorry if I've not described it very well, what do you think of the idea??
Thanks for reading!

we have 2 12x12 stables and then a 18' long barn/garage on the end. We have it roofed over the whole thing (unduline I think) so that we have 6ft under cover (sloping down)in front of the 2 stables which is vvvv usefull. not sure about the max light with clear, its not really a problem with ours

The only thing I would say is that we have small horses and if either of them get a bit head tossy they arent that far from the roof.

Like the idea but a word of caution.Slightly different scenario but we used to have a veranda on our rest room .Note I said had ! On a blustery day the wind got under it and ripped it off taking all of the rest room roof and the part of the wall.
So I would check on the usual wind direction just in case ....

The roof height is my concern too..... The eaves of the stable will be 2.6 mtrs so i guess the veranda roof would start there and go down slightly to drain.... hmmm, maybe I should try for eaves to be 2.9 and there there is another foot to play with.... current horse is 16.2

ETA - thanks digger, yard should be quite sheltered... but from one direction maybe not so....

ours faces the prevailing wind (because planning made us!) we have had no problems.

I willl PM you some pics
