omg i have had a night from hell, got a call to say horses where running round silly, children chasinng them argh . well got there and foal had just jumped the fence and tumbled right over, really hurt herself and nasty cuts ect. children was gone, if they where there when i arrived think i would just have lost it. foal very badly lame on back right, front knees all cut and swelled already, back hock on other leg swelled abit. had to move her home so i could hose her and inject ect, phoned vet he came out and said she hopefully will be ok in a week or 2, very sore at min. but she was so good, let us drench 1 bute in to her and inject with penstripe and tetinus, also let us hose front and back legs for a hour. was going to put in stable but vet said, put her in a closed of small field, as she will be more happy and relaxed, also the wee field isnt big enough to run around sillly, but to eat and strech legs, even tough she is lame he said small walking will help to stop stiffness as she will be in the morning and all swelled.

i am just in and i am wrecked, so upset and just really annoyed how children can be so cruel to animals, e.g girl in last night thread throwing pups in river, that is just sick, disturbing. cant do anything else tonight but have a week or so of hosing, drenching. just cant believe it. i am soooo tired and mad at min.

this is her last mth

I am really sorry to hear this - have you reported this to the police? if they are children, then they will be local. I would create a flyer, outline what the repercussions were (vet)and say that the police are now involved. Also, I would speak to the (kind) people who notified you for descriptions etc as well and circulate that. If nothing else, you will put the fear of god into these revolting children and hopefully make someone (parents as well) sit up and take notice.

I feel so sorry for you and hope that your foal improves quickly. I just don't understand how kids could do things like that- however in my old livery yard kids started a fire at the corner of my horse's field and just ran away! I wish the kids had still been there when you got there, but they're probably the sorts whose parents would have filed a complaint against you for harassing their kids! Anyway hope your foal is ok and not too shaken up by it all.

thanks, mare is fine, she was so good and just stood there the whole time while we worked with foal, we used to rent fields years ago and there was bout 14 acres and in summer kids would set alite to the winds and fire spread all through fields, 6 fire engines to put it out, horses werent there but was about to move them there. so needless to say i stopped taking them fields.

never had problem at new fields till tonight, i will find them but parents prob wouldnt even want to know.

Aww, hope she makes a speedy recovery :(

I agree with you, I dont see how some people can be so heartless

How old is she if you don't mind me asking? And she looks lovley in that pic, she has really nice markings :D

what is wrong with people ?!!?!:confused:

i do wonder what goes through some peoples heads sometimes ? :(

i hope you foal gets better soon :o

and if i were you i would be straight round to the parents house with vet bill !!!

Ow no poor baby ...I hope she feels better in the morning bloody kids now adays. Bet your worried sick.

Luci07 i completley agree ! Take the notices to the local schools to.

It annoys me enough when we find that people have been walking through our fields, damaging walls and fences, so I can't imagine how you are feeling now. I do hope the foal gets better very soon. Have you considered telling the local paper about what happened? If you could get them to publish a photo, it might stir someone into naming names.

she was born 08/05/2010, she is nearly 4 mths at min, photo taken last mth when she was 3 mths old.

thanks for comments, just feel so sorry for her and i am so tired right now heading to bed shortly, will be up 1st thing to hose her leg and give her bute in drench.

hope the baby is ok....hate little brats like this lol

this would make you want to go and buy a nasty ***** of a horse that would chase them out lol sure they wouldn't do it again!! (i know it wouldn;t make ur life any easier bu thte thought made me smile)

Poor baby, the kids probably ***** themselves if they saw her hurt herself, little barstewards, where the hell are the parents! Try and get hold of some arnica 30c from a local health food shop if you have one, dose her every couple of hours for the first day and then every 6 hours or so. It will help reduce any swelling very quickly and you could also try aconite for shock and pain. Hope she recovers quickly, bless her!

Oh that's dreadful, neither you nor your beautiful foal deserve that. How can kids not know whatever age they are that chasing horses is wrong. I hope you get a good night's sleep and your foal recovers well from her injuries.

Something similar happened on a friends yard, her tb wouldn't approach the
round feeder, she found her kid's pony tied up with a haynet, the clicher was when her yard was totally trashed, duck eggs due to hatch were smashed against walls, stressed horses, poultry and goats.
It turns out tha two 10yr old GIRLS were going every night for two weeks and
beating the tb off the feeder, chasing all the residents round the yard, stamped on and threw hatchlings against walls and generally trashed the place.
These little darlings left a coat with names and address in, police were involved but could do nothing because girls were under age, parents couldn't care less, the owner, herself a community po gave up her yard, rehomed all the animals and put her horses back on livery.
Personally I would have met these girls from school, if they attended and terrorised them, there needs to be consequences for actions regardless of age.

just want to update you's and let you all know how lady (show name, latest edition) is doing this morning after last night, also thank you all sooooooooo much for thinking of her and advice means alot.
didnt know what i was going to wake up to this morning. swellings not too bad at the min she doesnt know which leg is sore as changes legs sore all over really, but main leg is back right hock bit swelled on other leg, but i think she got a wack on her hip as well when she tumbled over after she jumped fence, as abit of clicking when walking, but vet said she is better in field to keep moving as legs will stiffing if left in stable and she would be happier in field.

hosed her for a hour and drench bute into her put cut&heal on cuts its brilliant heals from inside out, she was SO good, didnt mind, think she knows we are helping her, i streched leg out front and back to help if she did pull anything, she was so good. so put her back in field, i normally if a horse hurt leg or lame would hose 3 times aday, but vet said for a foal that would be abit much for her, twice aday for a hour and bute, should hopefully do the trick. hopefully she wont need phiso for hip, just here a clicking but have to wait and see in a week or so how she mends.

will keep you all up dated and if i find those brats, although safer forgetting bout them now as parent wouldnt care and police can do nothing.

thanks a million again

thanks a million, i will keep you all updated. phoned police and just reported it, but as i thought nothing they can do. will get some new pics of her. thanks everyone.

There is some seriously bad parenting going on in this country and it seems to be getting worse and will only continue to do so unless something is done about it- people bring these children up badly, the children then go on to do the same with their children and so on and so on until the nice, considerate and law abiding people become the minority.

It's now common in the roads by my house for young children to cross the road in front of cars, stop in the middle of the road and stare at the driver (my response is to hold my hand on the horn until they move and hope their parents hear the noise and look out of the window to see what the noise is. I might start putting my foot hard on the accelerator though and doing society a favour :D) And throwing footballs at cars etc. This is something that wouldn't have happened when I was that age in this area (and I'm only 23 so not that long ago!) My OH's car was parked outside his friend's house and he left the window open as he was in the house for less than five mins, came back out to find eggs had been thrown into the car!

The people who chased your poor horses round the field take it to a whole new level though! Scabs on the knee of society!! How anyone could do that is beyond me. Rules re: prosecution of children needs to change where there are such obvious displays of cruelty. From a VERY early age I knew right from wrong that causing suffering to another living thing fell in the latter category.

Hope your foal isn't too badly affected by what happened and there is no lasting harm done. I also hope you find out who the horrible brats are too. If you do and their parents are not suitably horrified I would contact the police and see if you can press charges!

Bless hopefully she will be lots better in the morning and each day after.
Shame you did not catch the kids because you could then at least pass the vet bill on to the parents see how funny the little brats find it then.

Oh, the poor little thing! I'm so sorry and hope she heals up quickly. She sounds like a real sweetheart to take her meds and treatment so well.

Beastly little monsters! And it does make me angry that there's nothing that can be done. How are kids supposed to learn boundaries if their parents don't teach them and society can't take any action?

Sorry to hear about your filly, but did the right thing to report to police and take photos, as they may just drive by your field next couple of weeks, so the kids may see and if it does happen again, you have reported previous and they then have to take it seriously.

wee pic as promised of mum and baby tonight when hosing baby's legs, how good is she, standing sleeping with mum while hosing her. she is just a wee honey, also she was walking great tonight and looking really good compared to this morning, quick wee healer, hope in a few days all will be ok. hip isnt clicking now think streching legs this morning helped loosen he up also sweelings really going down. really impressed with her, i know bute is taken pain away but still with that she is doing great.
thanks a million to everyone
