I posted about my dog's suspected bladder stones (see other post.) Well, after some strong antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, the lump was no better, and this morning the vet opened my dog up.

Just a little history- she was bought as a bitch, and looked externally like a bitch, until about 5 months of age. I rang my vet saying her "bits" looked odd, but they reassured me.
When she went in to be spayed at 6 months, before her first season, they understood what I meant. They did some research and some tests, and announced that "she" was in fact a "he" with a deformed anatomy due to a chromasomal abnormality. She was operated on and they removed shrunken, deformed retained testicles.

That was 2 1/2 years ago.

Today, my vet phoned me (a new vet- I changed vets fairly recently) to say he has removed her lump. He believes it to be a rudimentary ovary and uterus, which had gone (his words) "pretty manky." The growth has been sent for biopsy.

So, I'm thrilled to bits with my new vet, and immensely p****d off with my old one. There was also a stitch in there from the first op which has now been removed. I hope that's the end of it now for my poor little dog, but I can't help thinking this could have been dealt with years ago. I'm just grateful it was found before things got a lot worse which, according to "new and improved" vet, they most certainly would have done.

So, thanks for reading- and please send good healing and recovery vibes to my dog, 'cos you're all brilliant at it.
