Very bright headlamp/torch

I think you'll struggle to find a headlamp that's much brighter than the usual - they just aren't designed that way.

What about three or four lantern style torches that you could put at the corners of a square in the school? It will cost a fortune in batteries, but cheaper than putting lights in! Or one powerful lantern in the middle of a circle, one of those that casts the light in a circle, on a barrel or something?

I'll probably be able to pull my car up to the side and put the lights on for 20mins or so if I can't find a decent headlamp. It's not pitch black anyway so I'm sure they'll get used to being in the dark. I've just heard people say they've had really strong ones in the past but I wouldn't know where to look :)

Yes, Petzl's are excellent - but I wouldn't want to school in mine! Lots of people see, to use car headlights, so that would be a good option :)

I have seen cyclists with headlamps that were so bright that I thought it was a car on full beam  and flashed them :o
Maybe look at cycling retailers.

My son does off road night riding on his bike. He has a head torch which fixes to a bracket on top of his helmet which is amazingly bright. I think it was around the £200 mark from a bike shop.

Look up Exposure Lights, hubby does 24hr mountain bike competitions and rides with these on during the night. Cost a fortune but they really do work - he can ride very technical sections in the pitch dark.

Cree :D
I ride out in mine and cars have been known to dip their lights
Cree also do one with a red light on the back which is fab for riding in dark mornings as i'm all legal with white to the front and red behind. love it:D
