Very dumb question but I can see 'whys' for both sides so help please!

Just been given some stable mats, certainly more than enough to do a foaling box and more!

What side do you have to the floor, is it the channels or the bubbly side? They're not the interlocking ones just very heavy and black, won't move in a month of Sundays!

Told you it was dumb!

Ta! Knew you'd know! Just that I've seen both sides used (and both worked!)

Absolutely. But I think that the grooves are meant to act as drainage channels, whereas the bubbles would just hold any fluid in more.

Bubbly side up and channels to the floor in stables. In horseboxes,it is usually the other way round so that the box can be hosed out easily. Just a word of advice - make sure you don't have a join/seam in the doorway as this is the mat that gets the most wear.

Ours were bubbles on the bottom & channels on the top. As we had little blocks with holes cut out to lock the mats together with under neath if that makes sense. You could like 4 mats to stop them twisting & lifting.

These are the ones I had hope it makes sense!

As far as I know they are meant to be bubble side up but I have recently turned mine over as I couldn't brush them

I have arthritis and I found it impossible with my dodgy shoulders. They are super the other way up and the wee is still running out from underneath them fine. Our stables have a sloped floor with a drain in front of the stable and the wee goes straight down there

If you put the bubbly side up it is a b*gger to sweep, even if that is the way they are designed to be. It really doesn't matter which way up they are. We have quite a deep bed on ours so they don't get too wet underneath anyway.

That's what I thought when I was scrubbing them off this morning! Glad to know my memory wasn't playing me tricks about being double sided though.
I think I'll try them with the channel side up; I can always change them over if they don't work can't I? Thing is, I semi deep litter anyway or I always have done; I'll have to see how that works with them too.
