Have measured Whisk with weight tape and he is 722kg!! He is a 16.3hh 12 year old hanoverian. Does that sound a lot. Might get brave tomorrow and reveal his belly to the nation!!!
Maybe I worked it out wrong!! Maths was never my strong point. He does have a big belly but no crest or gutter down his quarters. Any way yes he is on avery serious diet and today we worked hard for an hour. Poor lad was white with sweat in places. However, he was a really good boy. We have a comp on Sat and if he goes half as well I will be extremely pleased. Hubbie took pics today but don't thi9nk any of them were much good. Will put one in PG.
The black Latvian WB in my sig is 16.2hh and 660kg, the bay Belgian WB x ISH is 17.3hh and 730kg, it depends on the horses build of course, I imagine your boy should weigh similar to my 16.2hh.
When I bought my 15.1hh Shire x Dartmoor, he had been a show driving cob and was well over weight at about 800kg, I have gradually leaned him down to about 650kg which my vet (who hates over weight horses) says is about right for him, as he is of very heavy build.
My 15.3 TB when fit and competing is 545kg (weighed on the vet weigh bridge) and according to the vet he was 'just right'. Most big horses are over 600kg - over 700kg does sound overwieght though!
Ellie is 16.3 ID x TB and she weighs 577kg at the moment which is fabulous for her!
The majority of the time she is around 616kg but I always think that is a tad much for her. I would have though he should be around the 600 - 630kg mark at most!
