Just bought a 6 month old welsh sec A colt about 3 weeks ago. He was brought down from wales (literally off the side of a mountain). So was used to all winds and weathers etc. I've noticed that he has an extremely flakey, dandruffy mane. Is this just dandruff, or could it be something else, such as mites or lice? Any suggestions greatfully recieved

also, if it is only dandruff, how do i get rid of it easily?

When Toto used to have scurfy skin on his body and mane and tail, we asked the vet and she said to bath him once in diluted hibiscrub (like a capfull in a bucket of warm water, not much as it's quite strong stuff). and rinse him off well . It cleared it up well

Check for any unwanted visitors. If there is any sign, then treat appropriately. If there is nothing, you could try what worked well on my Section A, apply E45 lotion to the crest until it clears, which was usually very quickly with my lad.
Please though, do check thoroughly for unwanted visitors first.
