this isnt a help thread or wwyd...more of a complain.....

over the past 2 years i have put my trust in many proffessionals about the care of my horses, due to them being 'experts' in their fields - being proffessional - and most have let me down.

i have just got to the point of thinking that i am completly on my own when it comes to their care and health and that i should no-longer trust these people, who ultimatly, can make decicions about life and death over my horses.

vets, farriers, trainers, physios and saddle fitters have all caused more problems than there were in the first place!!!! most recently my trainer said my horse was 'nasty' and should be 'got rid of' cos she bucked me off a few times.........turned out the saddle was causing immense pain and im luckly that im still here!.....id asked the trainer about the saddle over and over again and she had never picked up on this!........feel like i should never listen to her again!

and the worst thing is that every time something has been suspect, if the proffessional had just listened to me in the first place, rather than thinking 'they know best' it would have been solved much much quicker, or even not happened! and difficult decicions would not have had of been made! yet due to them being proffessional and having eons of experience over me - who am i going to listen to????? well the wise, 'knowledgeable' one obviously!

sorry for a long rant - but i cant tell this to one of them!!!!! but from my experiences over the past 2 years i have learnt to not trust a profffessionals word without seeing it my self and, finally, learnt to trust my gut instinct, as it has been right every time!

I can empathise with your frustration. I agree you should always go with your 'gut' - it is usually right and a skill we have largely ceased to use.

I have also found that in some cases the 'professional' has let ego take over and they get compacent and get it wrong. You should always be open to different suggestionsimo which is why on a forum such as this you can read about different ideas and learn a;lot to keep in your toolkit :)
