my shetland has spent the winter unrugged, as we didn't think we'd be showing him this year.

however, it now looks like my son wants to do some leadrein gymkhanas and a couple of lead rein classes... there is a LOVELy local show which would be a good one to have as their first... in 6weeks time... but iggle the shetland is a hair ball...

HELP! what can i do?

clip? - what would i do about his legs? i think m&m are meant to be 'natural'? (i know nothing about showing...)

take him hairy? but trim his beard?

Firstly he is ADORABLE :D :D

I would prob take him as a hairy bear and just trim him up a bit - beard etc. Iam sure there will be others in the same boat ;)

6 weeks is quite a while, horses are malting already - lots of grooming between now and then to get most of it out ;)

My mini I just trim her beard+that's it :) I mostly only do smaller shows early in the season, by the time I do some of the county shows in summer she has lost all her hairiness :D

Those square grooming blocks are brillient, ive got windsor show in may and a hairy haflinger to show and the block is getting handfulls at a time out, also i find more comes out when hes work and is very warm.

I quite like my furminator for hairy yearling cobs! And then hot towelling with a touch of citronella and they come up in a shine (a hairy shine!!)

He's gorgeous! Really recommend a shedding blade - with lots of grooming you might find he's less of a fur ball by the show!

That is my favourite grooming item in the whole world - love it! Gets hair out amazingly. :D

My friend recommended a block, which I then purchased and tried, but I wasn't overly impressed with it, and the shedding blade beats it hands down! xx
