Hey everyone
I am just so happy after yesterday, all my show jumping problems are solved!!
My issue was that whenever i couldn't see a stride i would just freeze and go *****!!
First my instructor fixed my pace of canter, basically i have been holding her a stride short in canter if that makes sense. We put out 2 poles to canter over and count the strides. I was amazed tbh, we managed to extend too 5 strides and collect too 10!! All from our working pace of 7
Another problem is doubles, because she is naturally short strided i dont set her up right and knock the second part down.
To solve this i went over a cross pole a few times out of a 7 stride canter ond her take off was either too close r tow far away. So then we moved up a gear into an 8 stride pace and HEY PRESTO we got it right every time!!
We then went on to a one stride double that was set to a horse stride with an upright at the start and end. Before using the 8 stride i would make her stop or knock them down BUT she hit it perfectly again and so effortless.
Next I did an upright after the double from the normal 7 pace canter as it required less effort and scope. Then a low oxer was put on the diagonal and we jumped over it several times widening it until it was roughly 1.20 wide!! and from me freezing at the sight of a wide jump, and feeling that she couldn't make it I am so happy!!
We then went round the course perfectly
I just feel like i have finally got my pony back, the way she was before i mucked it up!! And maybe bsja won't be so impossible after all
And i now know more SPEED = SCOPE!!
After all this I went round a course
Thanks for reading!
