Just back from gun dog class with Teal run by local shoot all volunteers.

I went with the idea of using it for socialisation following all the little issues.

I knew he could do some of the pick ups etc but didnt expect much

Anyway he ended up completing all of the pick ups in the class even over the river we currently have in the field (he doesnt swim much hes more of a wader but happily swam accross a river with a current to get the dummy). He even although didnt sit, stopped and looked at me when he got a bit lost looking for a dummy. Very happy with him. I suprised myself at what he could do with some tweaking on my part from instructor. Defo going back next week.

And at the end I was brave enough to let him off and he mingled in just fine :) :) :)

Lol at the wotsits my lab loves cheesy crisps if OH has some he just sits and drowns in own saliva! Well done with dogs how old are your two? Im after a gun dog school want to take mine to get some tips- won't actual take him on shoots tho at least not planning to.

Teal is 4yo springer x lab only had him 18months was partially trained when I got him. He knew to hold the dummy, walk to heel and recall to whistle but I have taught him directions and the kind of stop he has.

Dylan is 19month rottie x something with a high prey drive to anything mainly. Would post pictures but there are many of them around on here lol.

I have seen pics before. Mine is 8 months he is currently learning to heel- he does it off lead in field better than on lead on road ironically, he does no where heel i tho. He is learning to find his dummy in a field do you use left or right or different word for directions as at mo he does a grid but we have to point in direction if he can't find it as he looks at me aimlessly! The stop sounds interesting i think we will have to work on that idea!
