My welsh a has acute laminitis, shes been in for two weeks now
Just after i got her about a year ago we found she gets very stressed if kept in for longer than overnight when we kept her in due to bad weather and she ended up with colic through her stressing out.
The first week or so she was very subdued with the pain and fairly quiet. This week is a different story. Shes very attached to my other pony and wont stay on the yard on her own so weve been keeping the other pony in too and turning her out in the closest field to the yard for an hour or so while we muck out and last week this was fine. This week everytime we try to take the other pony away, welsh a goes crazy
She storms around her stable rearing/bucking ect and gets very wound up. Last night she seemed to forget her feet hurt and bucked but as her front feet are worse they couldnt support her and she fell flat on her face
.. But then carried on, she seems to go into a panic and nothing can get her out of it
Is there anything i can do/give her that wont effect her laminitis that will calm her down or distract her as a tiny haynet just doesnt seem to distract her at all
I dont really think sedatives will help as shes always fighted the effects of them and theyve proved useless.
Also hopefully she can go out in a small pen in a week or so, but of course my other pony wont be in there with her and everytime ive separted them in the field before shes broken down/jumped/crashed into/slipped under the fence even if its electric fencing. Can anyone reccomend some pony proof fencing thats also high enough to stop her jumping it
Ta in advance and sorry if its all rambled
