As demanded by Lisatoomanyponies..!
Took my new loan horsie (a rather simple Section D) out to our first show yesterday - his third in total, he's 5 and hasn't been out and about much... We did the beginners workers. Poor lad had been bathed the day before, and then thoroughly tarted up the morning of the show, so was understandably not in the best mood bless him! However, he managed to get round the course of jumps with just a couple down (walk to jump..jump with fronts..land on jump with backs...
), and a minor step back while he had a think about another. Flew the last fence though, he cottoned on a bit late..!
On to the show bit. Well, he was very confused a having to go round with all the other ponies, he's a got a massive canter stride so could only do about one stride before landing on the person in front. The individual show was going fine until he took a great dislike to the seating and catering - we had a bit of a discussion about which direction we should be going in, which he won, so I just trotted him back over to the jusge, did the salutey stuff, and went back in line. Horse decided that a nice lean against the white boards would be good (ever so tired...) and enjoyed himself whilst waiting for the others to finish by seeing how vigourously he could flap his lips..
Needless to say we came last! But all in all not bad for his first attempt at jumping at a show, and he just needs a bit of experience to make everything less scary. I was very pleased with him - he was very pleased to get home and make himself look like a scruffy pony again!
That was a bit longer than intended - so here's a picture of his gorgeousness to make up for it.
