Hi all,
After some advice/ opinions. Got a 14yr old Welsh Section D who has been back in work around 3 weeks. Out riding on Sunday and noticed he was a little unlevel. Hopped off and walked him back.

Long story short... He is sound in a straight line in trot (on a hard surface) but unlevel on the left rein in trot on a hard surface. He is taking a few unlevel steps but not head nodding or actually going what I would class as lame. This is probably 4-5 steps per full circle. There is no obvious heat or swellings etc, nothing really to see at all. I've been hosing it and given him yesterday and today off.

But now what.... Re-start gentle work as he is not that lame, or call vet? I'm not sure what the vet would say other than he is a little unlevel and would need to be lame before they could do anything.

When was the last time he had his back looked at? I bought my Welsh D loan pony back into work at the beginning of the year and he was stiff as a board and totally knotted up over his nearside hind which looked like a bit of a hobble as he was swinging his leg rather than lifting it, 20 mins with the back man and he was like a different pony...reminds me I must have him done again in the next couple of months! Def call the vet if you are worried though, no harm in having him checked out.
