Through no choice of my own I may be doing a very low level SJ comp at a local yard soon. I've never competed before and don't have much kit...

I was thinking
- long black riding boots (only pair I own)
- jods I have options: cream (with slight grey stain on bum from landing in snowy puddle); plain black; plain navy (others are all colourful).
- top options: white or cream cotton shirt (ordinary ones, not horsey); plain black/navy slim-fit fleeces; possibly borrow a plain polo shirt (mine are all patterned); something else?

I will be in a black velvet hat and a black body protector.

I do have an old jacket which is plain black with velvet collar but I don't think it will fit nicely either over or under the BP.

Horse is bay and will be in brown tack, no bling/colours added.

NOT posted in Comp as this is more a fun/bbq thing than a serious comp. (I hope!)

I would go with the pale jods as imho they look better. All my comp jods have slight stains on them despite soaking them, I'm messy when I eat chips at shows! :D

I would wear anything with a collar on top, so either a shirt or a polo shirt - dark or light would be fine I think. Fleece over the top if its cold? I would think that would be fine tbh. :)
