Very moody mare!

I love my mare to bits. Thankfully she also loves me which is great but when it comes to other horses its a different story. There are only a select few she likes and if you are not one of those blessed few, god help you! Tonight I nearly lost her lungeing as she tried to chase after a small pony being ridden past. She literally lept after him, ears flat back ready to pounce.

Although she is not marish with me, I think she could benefit from a hormone supplement which might just make her not soo stroppy. Could anyone recommend a supplement for her?

Sounds like my mare!! I've got her on Hormonal Mare which makes a big difference, but she is still horrible to horses she does'nt like!! Fine with people!!

Glad I'm not the only one with an obnoxious mare! I've started using Stroppy Mare because it contains agnus castus which I know is proven in humans (I took part in a trial years ago - I was a stroppy mare too!).

If I don't see an improvement in the next few weeks I'm going to have the vet check her ovaries, but tbh I just think it's the way she is. She does have some redeeming qualities - if I think hard enough...

My old mare is like that and when out hacking, I dread seeing kids on little ponies as she wants to kill them.

After years of having her, I know her inside out and keep mares only on my land which helps considerably. As for the hacking out, its a matter of threatening her with the whip by switching it up in front to keep her from leaping to the other side of the road to kill ponies.

ive just got some stroppy mare too so will have to update in a few weeks see if it helps
